Seon Hwa Lee wins in LPGA HSBC match Play Championship


Seon Hwa Lee of CJ seized the winner’s trophy by defeating Ai Miyazato, the Japanese ace, by 2-hole difference in the final round of LPGA HSBC Women’s World Match Play Gold Championship held in Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y on the 23rd of July (Korean time). 


With the records to obtain qualification as a professional player at the youngest age in the history of Korean women’s professional golf and to win a match at the youngest age, Seon Hwa Lee won in ‘Shop Rite Classic’ last year following the record to become the highest prize money winner in LPGA Futures Tour in 2005, therefore climbed to the title of LPGA Tour New Player of the Year to become the leader of next generation golfers. Lee has also been named the ‘Little Seri Pak’ as she has the capacities to follow the footsteps of Seri Pak.


Seon Hwa Lee, who became the first Korean to win this match established in 2005, received the winning prize of US$ 500,000 to accelerate her advancement in prize money ranking from the 25th to the 5th (US$ 810,499).
