This past November, CJ 4DPLEX achieved the feat of opening its 700th 4DX screening room. With its 700th 4DX screening room having opened, CJ 4DPLEX is slated to soon present a new brand identity, 10 years after the company's launch. CJ 4DPLEX has decided to carry out the brand update in a bid to enhance the brand image of the special theaters — the multi-sensory 4DX and the world’s first multi-projection ScreenX. The task of designing new logos for 4DX and ScreenX was given to Interbrand, a global brand consulting firm.
The new logos of 4DX and ScreenX feature the “The X Typography” font, designed specifically to emphasize the identities of 4DX and ScreenX, which offer unique cinematic experiences. The signage that will be hung inside and outside the screening rooms will use “passion red” as a brand accentuating color, which signifies the exciting cinematic experiences 4DX and ScreenX provide to audiences around the world. The designs for web use, mobile use, and printing will retain the previous combination of black and white to achieve simplicity. The world's first-ever integrated cinema experience system “4DX with ScreenX” will be renamed “4DX Screen.”
Through this brand update, CJ 4DPLEX plans to further accelerate the global expansion of 4DX, ScreenX and 4DX Screen, which are establishing themselves as the world’s leading special cinema brands.
CJ 4DPLEX CEO Kim Jong-Ryul said, "CJ 4DPLEX has been able to achieve substantial growth for the past 10 years on the strength of the support of movie fans around the world and cooperation with our partners. In keeping with the underlying meaning in the new brand logos, we will continue to strive to advance our technology so that more audiences can enjoy movies in a more interesting way through 4DX."
Meanwhile, since debuting at CGV Cheongdam Cine City in 2012, ScreenX — the world's first special multi-projection cinema system, developed entirely in South Korea with CJ CGV's own technology — has been launched in a total of 27 countries, starting with Bangkok in 2014, followed by the likes of the U.S. China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Turkey, Japan and France, with 270 screen rooms currently in operation around the world. CGV's special integrated cinema system that will be rebranded as“4DX Screen” currently operates in 22 locations throughout South Korea, France, China, and Japan.
