CJ, having been named an official partner sponsor of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, is set to lead the advancement of South Korea’s sports industry

CJ Corporation (hereinafter “CJ,” headed by CEO Kim Hong-ki) has signed an official partner sponsorship agreement with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, headed by chairman Lee Ki-heung, with the two parties having agreed to collaborate on joint marketing for the advancement of South Korea’s sports industry. On the 13th, a signing ceremony for an official partner sponsor agreement between CJ and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee was held at the latter’s main conference room, with the attendance of CJ CEO Kim Hong-ki, Korean Sport & Olympic Committee chairman Lee Ki-heung and officials from both parties.

With the signing of the first-class official partner sponsor agreement, CJ and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee are now set to embark on marketing collaborations to vitalize South Korea’s sports industry

Having been chosen as the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee's first-class official partner, CJ can now use the committee’s emblem as well as the “official sponsor” designation until 2024. The company is also entitled to marketing promotions that use such intellectual property as the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee's emblem and the national squad.

CJ plans to conduct various marketing collaborations with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee at the Asian Games Hangzhou scheduled to take place later this year as well as at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

CJ to spread K-content to the whole world through the “Korea House” at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

At the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics in particular, CJ plans to conduct marketing collaborations for the advancement of the sports industry and showcase various pieces of K-content, such as Korean food, sports, and other general content, through the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee's the Korea House.

CJ CEO Kim Hong-ki said, “Under this official partner agreement, we, CJ, will strive to become South Korea’s representative company that leads the advancement and vitalization of the country's sports industry through active cooperation with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee. Furthermore, through a marketing collaboration with the Korea House for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, we will contribute to spread South Korean culture to the whole world.”

Korean Sport & Olympic Committee chairman Lee Ki-heung said, “It is very meaningful for us, the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, to be able to work together with CJ Group, who are engaged in the core Hallyu cultural businesses, for the advancement of South Korea’s sports industry through this partnership. Together, we plan to showcase South Korean cultural products in a fascinating way through our Korea House, which will be launched at the 2024 Paris Olympics.”

CJ currently sponsors athletes in various sports, such as swimming (Hwang Seon-woo), golf (Kim Si-woo and Lim Seong-jae), breakdancing (Kim Heon-woo/Wing and Jeon Ji-ye/Fresh Bella) and tennis.

CJ CheilJedang has been acting as an official sponsor for the convenience food sector of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee since 2017, and has provided products, such as “bibigo,” “gourmet,” and ”Hetbahn,” to South Korea’s national squad, which competed in the last Tokyo Olympics and the Beijing Olympics.
