Tous les Jours Opens Baking Dreams, an Academy Program, in Indonesia
- CJ Foodville signs and MOU with SMKN27, a national technical high school in Indonesia, on Jun 17.
- Sets up ‘TLJ Baking Dreams’ program to transfer advanced baking skills.
Tous les Jours, a bakery arm of CJ Foodville, announced today that they are accelerating their efforts to accelerate their growth into becoming a sustainable brand in the global market.
CJ Foodville signed an MOU for a joint academy program called ‘TLJ Baking Dreams’ with SMKN27, a national technical high school in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 17, 2022 (local time).
The signing ceremony was attended by Chi-hyung Lee, Director of Bakery HQ at CJ Foodville, Hee-sung Shin, President of CJ Indonesia, the head of the Jakarta Office of Education in central Indonesia, and Su-won Jung, the President of CJ Foodville Indonesia, who agreed to cooperate to improve the industry, technology, and education sectors in Indonesia backed by the government policy to reduce the local unemployment rate.
‘TLJ Baking Dreams’ seeks to transfer Tous les Jours’ advanced baking and confectionery skills to local schools and to support learning and employment for the students. The program, in particular, is focused on teaching technical baking and confectionery skills to teachers because once teachers learn higher skills, they can continue to transfer their knowledge to their many classes of students whereas if only the students are taught, it would end up as a one-off program with benefits going solely to a select pool of students.
Chi-hyung Lee, Director of Bakery HQ at CJ Foodville, said, “Just like making dough, fermenting, and molding that must be done with accurate timing when making bread, it is essential for students to get education, practice, and experience at the right time so that they can realize their dreams. CJ Foodville is striving to fulfill its responsibility as a global restaurant and a cultural corporation through ESG activities that can provide practical support to global communities, and by expanding the spirit of patriotism through business, the founding spirit of the CJ Group.”
Back in 2014, CJ Foodville launched the Korea-Indonesia CJ Bakery and Confectionery Course, a global social contribution program that was developed in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Through the program, CJ Foodville has improved and supplemented existing baking courses and facilities to train aspiring young bakers and has contributed to job creation in Indonesia.
