Premium storyteller group Studio Dragon(CEO Kang Chul-gu and Kim Young-kyu) picked up awards for leading the global craze for Korean drama. Studio Dragon has won the $100M Export Tower Award in Export Tower Awards hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Presidential Commendation for its phenomenal success in the world market in the Korea Content Awards 2021 hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).

At the Korea Content Awards 2021 hosted by MCST and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) held on December 8, 2021, Studio Dragon received a Presidential Commendation in the Contribution in Entering the Overseas Market category. The Korea Content Awards is an annual event that presents awards to exceptional Korean creators and content that were highly recognized overseas in that year. Studio Dragon was recognized for driving the Korean drama fever with various titles including, Crash Landing on You, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Record of Youth, Startup, and The Uncanny Counter.

Along with the Presidential Commendation by Studio Dragon, the writer of Record of Youth, Myung-hee Ha also won a Presidential Commendation for her contribution in the Development of the Broadcasting and Video Industry category, while Producer Sun-dong Yoo of The Uncanny Counter and Producer Hee-won Kim of Vincenzo each received the Minister Commendation, adding to the honor.

Earlier that month, Studio Dragon was recognized for its strong input in pioneering the overseas market and increasing exports and was presented with the $100M Export Tower Award at the 58th Export Day ceremony hosted by KITA and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on December 6, 2021. The company also won a Special K-Service Tower- Cultural Contents Category given to just one company under six categories that consist of culture, health, education, digital service, finance, and technology. This is a remarkable feat by Studio Dragon that has played an important part in spreading the Korean culture through content and contributing to the export of various consumer goods and services.

A Studio Dragon representative said, “Since our launch in 2016, we have endeavored to boost our competitiveness with the goal of commercializing our drama content and successfully entering the overseas market. As a result, we managed to increase our export performance to nearly 40% every year for the past three years. We will implement our strategy of exporting finished contents and producing global TV series at the same time and more than double the share of our overseas sales.”
