CJ Logistics announced on the 31st that it has been awarded the “2020 Korea Sharing Volunteer Awards” by the United Nations Volunteers Korea for 2 years in a row following 2019.
The “Korea Sharing Volunteer Awards” are given to organizations or individuals who have greatly contributed to the development of the country and local communities and have shared their volunteering work for people in need. The awards are held annually to spread the culture of sharing and volunteering.
The United Nations Volunteers Korea was founded in March 1971 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish peace, development, and human rights-centered values as well as to create a society where everyone cares and respects one another. To fulfill its mission, it actively implements non-profit public welfare projects for Koreans’ wellbeing, social development education, development aid and emergency aid.
CJ Logistics has been implementing a variety of CSV and CSR projects based on CJ Group’s corporate philosophy of “Contributing to the National Economy.” To name a few, the company provides quality jobs to the elderly and disabled by fully utilizing its logistics-based CSV projects. In addition, CJ Logistics provided free shipping services for C2C shipments in Daegu and Gyeongbuk for 2 months between last March and April when COVID-19 recorded its peak. At the end of last year, the company also provided free shipping services for about 1,000 boxes filled with charity donation items, such as charity pots, handbells, fundraising boxes, and clothes to share its love with neighbors.
This year, given the unique circumstances that have been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, CJ Logistics has carried out various non-face-to-face CSR activities in line with the New Normal lifestyle. For instance, its employees working overseas, such as in the United States and China, have participated in a volunteering project named the "Book-reading Foreign Language Village" by recording their voices when reading children's books in foreign languages and posting videos on YouTube. Also, the “Light up the World” project where employees made solar panels and delivered them to those who lack access to electricity was so popular that the application for allocated quantities was closed within a day applications began. Other social contribution activities have been implemented as well, including "making masks for underprivileged children" and "knitting hats for newborns" that employees can participate in using their spare time.
CJ Logistics also received the “Beautiful Korean Awards” at the same time as the “Korea Sharing Volunteer Awards.” The “Beautiful Korean Awards” are the most renowned awards in Korea given to those who have glorified the country with the spirit of sharing and volunteering. This year, 10 out of all awardees of the “Korea Sharing Volunteer Awards” were selected and awarded the “Beautiful Korean Awards.”
An official from CJ Logistics said, "It is a great honor to receive such huge awards following last year. To fulfill the spirit of shared growth, which is CJ Group's core business value, we will consistently implement social contribution activities at the forefront."
