‘KCON:TACT season 2’ by CJ ENM from October 16 (Fri) to 25 (Sun) is off to a great start. Co-hosted by CJ ENM (CEO Heo Min Heoi) and Korea Creative Content Agency (President Kim Young-Jun), the world’s biggest online Hallyu festival ‘KCON:TACT season 2’ captured the attention of global K-culture fans with more extravagant stage sets and techniques, expanded fan interactions and diverse K-culture programs than ‘KCON:TACT 2020 Summer’ held in the summer.

For a total of three days, 2 million viewers of paid and free memberships went online to enjoy K-culture all over the world. For the rest of the period, the convention contents prepared with Korea Creative Content Agency will spread the appeal of K-lifestyle to the whole world.
First, there was the K-pop concert with popular Hallyu artists and rising stars from the 16th (Fri) to 18th (Sun), as well as the Meet & Greet session for mini-fan meetings. The stage, applying MR (Mixed Reality), was set in a virtual world of a desert, space, and the sky at ‘KCON:TACT 2020 Summer’. This time, ‘KCON:TACT season 2’ is set on realistic landscapes like the city, on a desk, or in the forest with the theme of ‘KCON:TACT in My Hands,’ making viewers feel as if the artists are reduced in reality and into the viewers’ hands.
The compelling, exciting performances of popular Hallyu artists were presented on different stage sets. During the Meet & Greet session applying the interactive AR technology, many fans participated to communicate interactively with the artists.
On the first day (16th) of ‘KCON:TACT season 2’, DAY6(Even of Day), EVERGLOW, Sunmi, and WEi appeared and captivated the hearts of Hallyu fans worldwide. The opening performance was by DAY 6(Even of Day), playing the song ‘Landing’ with the band’s live performance to get the first day off to a great start. This was followed by ‘Where the Sea Sleeps’ and ‘Landed’, creating a sentimental mood of the night and stirring up emotions all over the world.
As the first runner for ‘Fan Request’ that presents a performance requested by fans, DAY6(Even of Day) prepared the song ‘You Were Beautiful’ with ONF Hyojin. This online collaboration displayed a perfect harmony of Hyojin’s sweet voice and performance of DAY6(Even of Day), pleasantly surprising fans.

EVERGLOW captured attention with fierce, intense performances of ‘LA DI DA,’ the title track of their second mini-album that has recently been released, as well as ‘DUN DUN’ and ‘Adios’. In the Meet & Greet session, they made drawings using the mobile AR drawing technology and played a quiz game looking at 3D images with fans. There was an AR tower that fills up when the number of chats exceed a certain level with active participation of fans, which became full during the session, and the members expressed gratitude to their fan base.
Next in line was WEi, performing the title track of their first min-album ‘Twilight’ and covering EXO’s ‘LOVESHOT’. They also had their first video call with a fan in San Francisco and exchanged encouraging messages.
Finally, Sunmi made an overwhelming appearance with her iconic charisma. She performed ‘Gotta Go’, unveiled for the first time at ‘KCON:TACT season 2’, followed by ‘Siren’ and ‘pporappippam’, creating an exhilarating experience beyond time and space like a fantastic space of extended reality.
“I was able to finally fulfill my desire to meet my fans, and I’d like to thank KCON:TACT for that,” said Sunmi. This season’s first ‘Fan Featuring’ stage was Sunmi’s ‘Gashina’, displaying fans dancing to the song behind Sunmi during the performance.
Bridging the distance between fans and artists through ‘Meet & Greet’ and ‘FanPick Cam’

JO1, A.C.E, IZ*ONE, KARD, and Natty performed on the second day (17th). JO1 participated in the concert in Japan, adding more significance to their excellent performance of ‘Go’. They greeted global fans with multiple languages, winning fervent responses from viewers all over the world. They danced perfectly in sync for the following performances of ‘So What’ and ‘Infinity’.
Next in line was A.C.E, a group loved for its unique concept. They appeared with ‘Intro : Escape’ and ‘Favorite Boys’, showing off a high-quality performance dressed in traditional Korean costume hanbok and presenting the classic Korean beauty. They also performed ‘Hell’ for the first time at ‘KCON:TACT season 2’.
Then there was the rising star Natty who projected her refreshing charm with her debut single ‘NINETEEN’. She seemed comfortable communicating with fans, spreading good vibes everywhere. And Mnet ‘Good Girl’ members KARD Jeon Ji Woo and CLC Jang Ye Eun performed a secret collaborative cover of Lee Hyori’s ’10 Minutes, causing global fans to go wild with excitement.

This was followed by KARD with their performance of ‘GUNSHOT’. The stage set designed like a mysterious forest and KARD’s perfect performance enraptured the fans, transcending time and space. Invited online to a fan’s room in Georgia, U.S. for the ‘Fan Zone’ event, KARD exhibited strong chemistry with the fan. For the ‘Fan Featuring’ performance of ‘Oh NaNa’, the fans also sang along to the song, completing a special, heartwarming performance.

The second day was topped off with IZ*ONE. IZ*ONE prepared a special performance of their new song for Japan titled ‘Beware’ for the ‘Fan Request’ stage of ‘KCON:TACT season 2’. They showed off their lovely appeal on the stage, seemingly mini-sized and placed on a desk. Then the stage was moved to outer space where the members performed ‘FIESTA’. IZ*ONE also expressed their love for fans with the Fan Featuring stage ‘Airplane’. Images of fans holding paper planes rose behind the members, looking as if they are all performing together.
In the ‘Meet & Greet’ session, IZ*ONE members made the fans cheer with their energy, and the fans’ active participation completed the ENM on Artist House and AR Tower. The proceeds from ‘Super Chat’, through which viewers can donate money, will be donated to UNESCO’s ‘Learning Never Stops’ campaign.

On the third day (18th), the festival proceeded with performances by ATEEZ, DREAMCATCHER, Kim Woo Seok, Lee Eun Sang, and WOODZ(Cho Seung Youn). DREAMCATCHER showed charismatic performances of ‘BOCA’ and ‘Break the Wall’, sending the fans wild. The performance of ‘RED SUN’ was filmed using a single shot film technique to make the dynamic choreography stand out more.
This was followed by Lee Eun Sang who performed ‘Beautiful Scar’, ‘Mirage’ and ‘I Just Wanna Sing’, securing his place as the next rising male soloist. WOODZ(Cho Seung Youn) showed off a sophisticated stage manner and performance with ‘Love me Harder’ and ‘Waikiki’. Kim Woo Seok captured the attention of fans with a sexy, irresistible performance of ‘Red Moon’ and ‘Beautiful’.
For ‘Fan Request’, Lee Eun Sang and Kim Woo Seok performed ‘Memories’ together, which is a song featuring sweet vocals and beautiful lyrics written and composed by both of them. WOODZ(Cho Seung Youn) also collaborated with Kim Woo Seok with great chemistry, covering ‘Hug Me’ by 10CM.

ATEEZ launched the Sunday concert with their recent release ‘INCEPTION’. They danced perfectly in sync throughout several songs such as ‘Answer’ and ‘My Way’ that are about their journey to find themselves. ATEEZ also communicated interactively with fans all over the world in the Meet & Green session. With the interactive AR technology, they were able to share a pleasant moment with their fans, feeling as if they are together in the same place.
Promoting K-lifestyle with KCON STUDIO and Pop Up Class

Meanwhile, six teams of K-indie musicians supported by Korea Creative Content Agency also performed in the pre-show before the K-pop concert, making the K-culture festival a more meaningful event. These musicians were selected in ‘Muse On 2020’, Korea Creative Content Agency’s key musician training project. They presented various genres and charms of K-pop for the whole world to see, building up anticipation for the performance of the three remaining teams.
Starting today (19th) until the 22nd (Thu), ‘KCON:TACT season 2’ will be filled with various convention programs prepared by Korea Creative Content Agency in addition to Meet & Greet sessions with K-pop artists. First, KCON STUDIO X DIA TV will feature various artists including ONF, ONEUS, DREAMCATCHER, and EVERGLOW as well as famous influencers, introducing various K-lifestyles such as Korean food, webtoons (digital comic), beauty, etc.
There is also a talent donation program Pop Up Class by artists and celebrities, which is a first for an online festival, featuring the magician Choi Hyunwoo and broadcaster Ahn Hyunmo, as well as VERIVERY, WOODZ(Cho Seung Youn), and WEi. The donations collected in the program will be donated back to society through UNESCO.
‘KCON:TACT season 2’, which will last until the 25th (Sun), is available on YouTube channels Mnet K-POP and KCON Official, TVING, and KT Seezn. There are two tiers of paid membership: ‘KCON:TACT’ and ‘KCON:TACT PLUS’. Both allow access to watch the K-pop concert and ‘Meet & Greet’ live. But ‘KCON:TACT PLUS’ also provides a replay service on VOD after the event, as well as an additional multi-view service called ‘FAN PICK CAM’ that offers as many as five different angles of the concert.
