2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Asia’s most prestigious music awards where people become one through music, has revealed a starry line-up of presenters.
At the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) which is set to take place on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Hong Kong AWE, fans are expected to see a whole constellation of Korea’s foremost stars who have greatly stood out in various areas of Korean pop culture this year, including film and TV dramas.
The stars to grace the stage at 2016 MAMA will include world star Lee Byung-Hun who is actively working in both Korea and Hollywood, Cha Seung-Won who powerfully charms viewers with his friendly on-screen persona, Ha Ji-Won who always manages to turn her movies into big hits with her peerless acting skills, and Han Hyo-Joo who displayed an immersive performance in the well-received, recently concluded TV drama series “W.”
In addition to these stars, the appearances of the following stars have also been confirmed: bonafide character actor Jang Hyuk who aims to broaden his acting horizons by playing a detective character in OCN’s new drama “Voice” which is scheduled to air in 2017, Han Ji-Min who has won the hearts of the public through numerous TV dramas and movies, Park Ki-Woong who in the recently finished TV show “Monster” excellently played the role of a character in which good and evil coexist, and Park Min-Young who is massively adored in Korea as well as in China.
The highly-anticipated performances by SEVENTEEN, GFRIEND, TWICE, I.O.I., and NCT DREAM in addition to EXO and BTS, along with the announcement of the line-up of presenters comprising top stars from Korea and other Asian countries, are bringing music fans’ expectations for 2016 MAMA to a boiling point.

Entering its eighth year, MAMA is Asia’s most prestigious music awards hosted by one of the world’s leading content companies, CJ E&M. The awards have constantly evolved for the last ten years with the growth of Korea’s music industry, from 1999’s Mnet Video Music Awards, through 2006’s Mnet KM Music Festival (MKMF), and into its current international form, MAMA in 2009. Having extended beyond being a mere year-end music awards event, MAMA is now one of the world’s largest music festivals enjoyed by people all over the world and serves as a global communication outlet as well as a platform to promote Asian pop music.
The coming 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), set to be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) in Hong Kong on Friday, December 2, 2016, aims to transform itself into a field of communication that bridges artists, global music fans, and creators based on the concept of “connection.” A new space that connects technology with emotion and virtuality with reality will be created on the main stage which will host awards ceremonies and performances. The awards ceremonies and performances happening on the stage will be ingenious ones that can only be pulled off by MAMA and will make for a perfect grand finale to the year 2016.
In addition, 2016 MAMA has seen the largest ever number of businesses sign up for its “Small and Medium Business Convention,” which has been held by MAMA since its 2014 edition with an aim to facilitate small and medium-sized Korean businesses’ forays into overseas markets. Since last September, CJ E&M has been calling for small and medium-sized Korean businesses that wish to enter the markets in the Greater China region in conjunction with the Small and Medium Business Administration, Large and Small Business Cooperation Foundation, and KOTRA; a total of 188 businesses — the highest number so far — have applied for the beauty, idea household goods, and fashion segments, affirming the awards’ standing as Asia’ most prestigious music festival and a platform for businesses to foray into global markets. This number is more than double 2014’s 91 businesses, and a total of 51 excellent small and medium-sized businesses have been finally selected after an evaluation by a jury comprising the members of Large and Small Business Cooperation Foundation and external experts and a marketability evaluation by KOTRA. In addition to these businesses, eight businesses picked by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and five businesses selected by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) will also join the convention, holding a joint exhibition for the local audience and an export consultation event for buyers in the Greater China on the day of 2016 MAMA, December 2.
