CJ expands into tofu market

CJ Corp., Korea's largest processed foods company, officially entered the tofu market, raising the stakes for competitors.

Yoon Seokchun, executive vice president of CJ Corp.'s Fresh Food Business Unit said that CJ Corp. has entered the tofu business because it plans to aggressively compete in the traditional foods market with soybean-based products, which have a lot of growth potential in the domestic and global markets.

The name of its brand new soybean product is "Happy Soybean" because it is flexible with product diversification. Other products like the soybean drink, cheese and dessert will be launched soon.

"Happy Soybean" is the first mass-produced tofu in Korea which has no artificial food additives. For this reason, its natural taste and nutrition remains intact.
