Wins the ‘Korea Design Award’ with systematic brand management and investment, and Gold Award in the world-renowned ‘Dow Packaging Innovation Awards’ with Bibigo Kimchi

CJ CheilJedang announced on the 20th that it had received the presidential award for design management at the ‘22nd Korea Design Award’ hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The ‘Korea Design Award’ is awarded to companies that have made excellent achievements in production service innovation with their designs. CJ CheilJedang has been acknowledged for its systematic brand management and investment, as well as performance in leading the Korean HMR market and globalizing K-food with design management.

Previously on the 11th, the company has also won the Gold Award at the ‘Dow Packaging Innovation Awards’ for Bibigo Kimchi packaging. ‘Bibigo Kimchi’ received good feedback in consumer convenience for controlling fermentation gas and reducing the use of plastic by 15%. CJ CheilJedang had won the same award for Bibigo Kimchi container back in 2017 as well.

As the only company in the industry to have a separate ‘design center’ and ‘packaging center’ specializing in brand design and R&D of packaging materials, CJ CheilJedang is leading product innovation through its designs.

CJ CheilJedang has developed the Design Value Index (DVI) together with the Korea Management Association to systematically manage and protect design assets and is capturing consumer needs. The company has also computerized the said assets by building a separate intranet ‘IP World’ to protect the rights with the legal affairs officer. In fact, CJ CheilJedang has applied for the registration of 502 designs in Korea and 361 overseas in just last year alone, showing most enthusiasm in the industry. The company is also implementing advanced packaging technology that reflects the characteristics of Korean food to keep pace with the global spread of K-food and taking the lead in developing and utilizing sustainable packaging materials at level of a global corporation.
