CJ Freshway Receives Commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor at a Conference on Promotion of the Employment of People with Disabilities

Continuous expansion in the employment of people with disabilities contributed to an increase in the recruitment rate of the severely disabled employees up to 60%

CJ Freshway, a company specializing in food materials distribution and group meals headed by CEO Moon Jong-seok, has been acknowledged by the South Korean government for its contribution to job creation for people with disabilities.

On the 17th, CJ Freshway announced that it had received a commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor at the Conference on Promotion of the Employment of People with Disabilities 2020, which took place on the 16th at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul in Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

Now in its 30th installment, the annual Conference on Promotion of the Employment of People with Disabilities is an event held by the Ministry of Employment and supervised by the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities, where awards are given to disabled workers who have set examples for others by committing to their jobs, business owners who have contributed to job creation for the disabled, and workers who have demonstrated dedication to the contribution of the employment of people with disabilities.

CJ Freshway has been employing an increasing number of people with disabilities for the past three years, and as of June last year, 146 people with disabilities are working for the company. With 60 percent of the 146 employees with severe disabilities, and so on, CJ Freshway has been acknowledged for its efforts for hiring workers unbiased by the presence of disabilities.

A CJ Freshway official said, “We increase the number of people with disabilities we hire each year by assigning a person exclusively tasked to hire such people for each region and running our own subsidy system. In the field, we put focus on both employment and job continuity through efforts to provide a safe, pleasant working environment, running programs for stabilizing employment and improving worker treatment, and so on.”

Previously, in 2019, CJ Freshway was selected by the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities as an excellent company with regard to employment of people with disabilities in recognition of its efforts to proactively hire these people for business entities that provide group meals and to create a friendly working environment.
