CJ ENM O Shopping Div. selected as a top company in ‘Cyber Crisis Response Simulation Training’ by KISA

CJ ENM O Shopping Div. has been selected as a top company in the ‘2020 1H Cyber Crisis Response Simulation Training` co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA). It was held from May 11 to 27, with only 5 out of 95 companies that participated in Korea being selected as top companies. CJ ENM O Shopping Div. was the only one in the retail industry to be awarded this time.

KISA has been conducting simulation training since 2004 for private enterprises to inspect prompt response systems for cyber crises. The training this time comprised of practical exercises such as 1) inspecting responses made to advanced persistent threats (APT) by sending malicious emails, 2) checking the restoration system after DDoS attacks, and 3) penetration testing simulations to diagnose the weaknesses and vulnerability of corporate websites.

CJ ENM O Shopping Div. received high scores in the training for massive hacking and DDoS attacks by 1) operating a prompt reporting system upon perceiving cyberattacks, 2) systematically taking initial measures by analyzing the attacks, and 3) taking quick follow-up measures for each type of hacking. The company is considered as having established a safe transaction environment for customers using e-commerce (online shopping). 

In addition, CJ ENM O Shopping Div. is striving to promote awareness on information protection by constantly providing security training for employees. It offers email phishing training twice a year and alerts employees about personal information leakage due to malicious codes and viruses. The training consists of sending suspicious emails or files like ‘discount coupons only for employees’ or ‘submission of job application’ and encouraging recipients to report to information security officers.

The company is also making constant efforts for customers to use services that are safe from cyberattacks. Starting with the ISO 27001 certification in 2005, it obtained ePRIVACY certification in 2007 and Korean ISMS (Information Security Management System) in 2013, which is maintained every year.

“As the number of untact services has been increasing recently due to COVID-19, there are also more and more cyber threats that are trying to take advantage of the situation,” said an official at CJ ENM O Shopping Div. “CJ ENM will continue to establish strict preemptive response systems for cyber threats so that customers can rely on our shopping platform for safe and secure transactions.”
