Focus on Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN!

Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN,
a project which acts a tribute to the first album of Shin Jung-Hyeon and Coins.

In June 2017, Shin Jung-Hyeon's rock spirit is back again through young musicians who have reinterpreted Shin’s legendary songs. It is “Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN”, a project that dedicates to Shin Jung-Hyeon and Coins’ first album released in 1974. On May 30, CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang held Media Day, an event to introduce the album in honor of the album’s release.

Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN, a project to pay tribute to the first album of Shin Jung-Hyeon and Coins released in 1974, is brought to life as a reinterpretation by aspiring musicians. On May 30, a media day in honor of the release of the album was held at CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang. Here is a report about Shin Jung-Hyeon's reborn rock spirit.


- CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang Attracts a Great Deal of Attention from Media

A big banner was put on display at CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang. The banner included a photo of Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN's album jacket design. You can see a list of participating musicians along with a photo of Shin Jung-Hyeon in the jacket design. When you enter the lobby after passing by the banner that nicely adorns the venue's facade, you will also find posters attached here and there.

At CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang, people can see the album jacket design of Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN from the Tune Up album "Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN." You can see a list of participating musicians along with a picture of Shin Jung-Hyeon. Posters can also be seen throughout the lobby.

Reporters from various media invited to Media Day started to gather one by one. We gave the reporters souvenirs from the CJ Culture Foundation along with press releases about Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN. The lobby of CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang was completely crowded with reporters who were all preoccupied with chronicling the event.

We distributed CJ Culture Foundation souvenirs to reporters who attended Media Day, together with press releases about Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN. Feverish media coverage descended on the event through the swarm of gathered reporters from various media. The lobby of CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang lobby was completely packed.

The inside of CJ Azit in Gwangheungchang was also very crowded. As many as 50 reporters were completely transfixed and preoccupied, through their coverage of the Tune Up debut album, Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN. General director Jung Won-Young, producer eAeon, and CJ Culture Foundation director Lee Sang-Joon made an appearance with the reporters busily snapping pictures.

"This event is the expression of the love and respect for the legendary musician and at the same time, shows a comfort and hope that this event by young musicians will lead to something meaningful," producer eAeon said. CJ Culture Foundation director Lee Sang-Joon added that he wanted to introduce Tune Up musicians to the public through the Tune Up tribute album and promote an exchange between young and old musicians.

- Live Performance of “Long, Long Night” by 12th Tune Up Band Blue Paprika

After the question-and-answer session, a special tribute performance was put on by Blue Paprika, a band from the 12th Tune Up class. Blue Paprika performed their own blues-based reinterpretation of “Long, Long Night” from the first album of Shin Jung-Hyeon and Coins. Also, audience members were able to listen to a song with the same title performed by Blue Paprika. The performance gave participants in the Media Day more things to look forward to in the album.

After the question-and-answer session, a special tribute performance was put on by Blue Paprika, a band from the 12th Tune Up class. Blue Paprika performed their own blues-based reinterpretation of “Long, Long Night” from the first album of Shin Jung-Hyeon and Coins. Also, audience members were able to listen to a song with the same title performed live by Blue Paprika.

The Media Day for Tune Up Tribute Album Shin Jung-Hyeon THE ORIGIN was successfully completed. Shin Jung-Hyeon's special meeting with Tune Up musicians who participated in the album was also held. Through their efforts, we hope that this album will become known as one that attracts a great deal of attention from many fans as the album received glowing praise from reporters.
