CJ America began in 1978 as a sales office in LA. One year later, the function of this office was expanded to
the importation of grain, sugar, etc. and the head office was moved to New York. Since then, CJ America has been serving numerous roles in
developing the core capacities of CJ in the North American region for 25 years.
Since moving the head office back to LA in 2003, CJ America is now conducting business not only in North America, but globally as well in
Central and South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South Africa. Together with its existing sales networking function, CJ
America is also supporting CJ's globalization project and information infrastructure implementation in America.
The Sales Division of CJ America is promoting the marketing of over 200 CJ and non-CJ products in the areas of food, pharmaceuticals and
bio-products.
Recently, CJ America organized a new division called CJ Foods to expand its business base and actively be involved in the food
logistics business around LA, San Francisco and Chicago.
Additionally, CJ America is focusing on introducing CJ products in the US market in order to promote Korean food culture in America.
Products of Hetban and Bulgogi seasoning, etc. are receiving favorable responses from consumers in the US.
In addition to sales, CJ America is collecting and providing information about trends in North America in relations to the core capacities
of CJ, such as in the areas of food & food service, pharmaceuticals, Bio-products, media & entertainment, home shopping, logistics, etc.
With this effort, CJ America is assisting the parent company in Korea for developing new markets and creating new business
opportunities.
CJ America is dedicating itself to further reinforcing its own capacities through innovation in its organizations, increasing its
competitive power in the North American market, and expanding its business opportunities. |

CJ commenced its bakery business in 2004. On the basis of product technologies accumulated over the years in
Korea, CJ is operating 4 stores and 1 Central Kitchen in LA's Korea Town and the surrounding area as of October 2006. The 2nd branch of the
Central Kitchen will be run in a new style by adding a restaurant concept to develop a new market.
In particular, Tous Les Jours is gathering favorable reviews through its localization strategy to develop products enjoyed by local people
together with product differentiation under the main concept of 'fresh, healthy, European style?to bake breads within the store premises.
Having introduced the bakery culture of Korea into the mainstream US market, Tous Les Jours is continuously endeavoring to make
contributions towards expanding and promoting Korea's food culture. |
